A New Contest for Kindle Vella Writers
The Vellys are coming to award prizes for the top Vella stories
Writing contests provide the opportunity for writers to get paid and get discovered. Recently, Amazon has announced on its Vella dashboard that they will be joining in on the contest scene by introducing The Vellys — a contest to award Kindle Vella writers with prizes.
The Prizes
The Vellys offer 15 awards with a total combined $62,000 in prize money. The Grand Prize is $25,000, with a $10,000 prize for the runner-up. An additional twelve awards of $1,000 each will be awarded to finalists. The Vellys also provide an additional Newcomer award worth $15,000. Along with prize money, winning stories also receive badges on their story pages.
The Details
If you are considering entering the contest, all you must do is start publishing a new Kindle Vella story between now and August 20. It is free to enter, and you may enter as many stories as you like, provided each story meets the minimum requirements. You cannot submit an existing Kindle Vella story to the contest, and you must follow all additional Kindle Vella rules of publication, including that your story must not have previously been published anywhere else.
