Writers over the past year have had to ask themselves the question of whether AI is something that they want to avoid completely in their work, or whether there are some aspects of using AI that can assist in creating their work.

While I as a writer am against using AI directly to craft my writing, I have been trying to explore ways that AI can take on some of my more mundane, time-consuming tasks. Here are three ways that I use AI without compromising my creativity.

Coming Up with Great Character Names

Do you remember just a year or two ago scouring baby name websites to find a character name that just clicked for your story? It could be difficult because sometimes you wanted something unique, and other times you just wanted to find something great that started with an M. Either way, it took time away from writing to do this kind of research.

AI can save that time when it comes to finding just the right character name. My most recent example is wanting a name for a young teen girl who attends boarding school. Obviously, she comes from wealth and needed to have a name that spoke to this. I decided that I wanted to make it a horse related name, because when I…
