Is focusing on publishing more titles the best self-publishing strategy?

A self-published author has a lot coming at them. Some question why would you go in the self-publishing direction in the first place. Others question why it takes so long to write a book. And yet, you will also get nagged for not writing a follow-up fast enough, especially when it comes to a book series.

And that’s where the question of quantity comes into play.

While no one is suggesting that quality shouldn’t be first and foremost, once you have that in your work, you need to consider the quantity of work that’s being put out. Does it matter to your audience, and how can you balance the need for more writing with inspiration, your day job, and life?

Because of the stretch of time between my published works and the fact that I tend to switch genres from one book to the next, it has always been hard for me to build a loyal audience. This year, with the quest to get quantity out, I’m hoping that this will change.

A Head Start

I won’t sit here and say that I’m writing twelve full novels from scratch this year. Far from it. I have stories…
